Izelle R. Bergeson, 95, of Waukon, formerly of Oelwein, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at

Good Samaritan Home in Waukon from complication of pneumonia. She was born June 22, 1907,

in Hazleton, the daughter of Thomas and Edith (Destival) Lahner. On January 1, 1927, she

married Arthur "Pete" Lenius at Oelwein. He preceded her in death in 1954. She later

married Oscar Bergeson, who preceded her in death in 1987. She owned taverns in

Independence and Vinton and was engaged in farming.
Survivors include a son, Howard (Marlene) Lenius of Lansing; three step-children, Delbert

of Oelwein, Gary of Michigan, and Iola of Wisconsin; two grandsons; and two

great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, four

brothers, and three sisters. Graveside interment services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery

at a later date.
