Former New Albin, Iowa resident Joseph William Coughlin, died Thursday, February 13, 1986 in St. Francis Medical Center, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday February 17 at the Dickinson Funeral Home, Jackson Street Chapel, and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, all in LaCrosse. The Rev. Floyd Dwyer officiated with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.

Joseph was born September 27, 1921 in LaCrosse to William and Mary (Kelly) Coughlin. He married his wife Frances *no last name given* in 1945, and she died in 1966. He was a World War II veteran and a member of American Legion Post 52, the Thomas Rooney Post 1530 of the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans. He was previously employed by the Trane Company in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter.

Survivors include two sons, Patrick Coughlin of Lansing, Iowa and Dennis Coughlin of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Gladys Coughlin and Bernice Coughlin, both of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and Alice Hogan of Manchester, Iowa; 2 brothers, Harold Coughlin of Hokah, Minnesota and John Coughlin of Glen Burnie, Maryland.
