Funeral services were held Monday, January 13 at 10:30 a.m. from Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, Iowa for Johannes J. Kjerland, age 90, of Waukon, Iowa who died Friday, January 10, 1986 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa. Casket bearers were members of the veterans organization. Rev. Lynn Groe of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon officiated at the services. Burial was in the Waterloo Ridge Cemetery near Dorchester, Iowa.

Johannes was born August 16, 1895 in Winneshiek County, Iowa *The name of his father and mother is not given.* He was a World War I veteran. Johannes was not married. He lived at the Allamakee County Care Facility for some time. Surviving are nieces and nephews.
