John E. "Pinky" Protsman - 1921-1985

Lansing resident John E. "Pinky" Protsman, age 63, died of an apparent heart attack Saturday, November 9, 1985. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 13 at the United Methodist Church in Lansing, Iowa with the Rev. Tom Mattson officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by both the VFW and the American Legion Posts of Lansing, Iowa.

John was born in Lansing, Iowa on December 7, 1921, the son of Robert and Johanna (Mohler) Protsman. He married Myrta Worm in Decorah, Iowa on November 28, 1947. She died December 4, 1982. He was a tugboat operator for Brennan Construction of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Lansing VFW Post 5981, the American Legion Post 50 of Lansing and the Masons. He was also an auxiliary fireman.

He is survived by 3 sons, Robert Protsman of Lansing, Iowa, Roger Protsman of California, and Richard Protsman of Waukon, Iowa, and 2 daughters, Lou Iva Stober of Colchester, Connecticut and Joan Weymiller of New Albin, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; a brother, Willard Protsman of Lansing, Iowa and 2 sisters, Charlotte Clark of Pardeeville, Wisconsin and Lois Shepard of the state of Washington.
