Services Held for Late Mrs. Geo. Schellhammer

Funeral Services were held for Mrs. George Schellhammer Friday afternoon at the Congregational Church at Churchtown, with Rev. C.H. Hoffman officiatig.

Katherine Fitz was born July 27, 1866 in Aufdorf Wittenburg, Germany. In September 1887 she came to America and the 18th of the month at Postville was married to George Schellhammer. To them were born nine children, five daughters and four sons. Two daughters have preceded the mother in death, one in infancy and Mrs. Christana Zimmerman who died in 1927.

The family lived at Postville until 1901 when the moved to this part of the county, locating near Church, which has since been thei home. Mrs. Schellhammer had been in failing health for the past 15 years but was able to be up and around until May 1 when she suffered a stroke of paralysis. For a week she suffered much and was finally relieved by death on May 8, at the age of 68 years.

She is survived by her husband, three daughters and four sons, Mrs. Charles Rissman, Mrs. Ben Marti, George and John of Churchtown; and Mrs. John Oesterle, Gottlieb and Charles of Lansing. Also 19 grandchildren.

Burial was in the Lansing Ridge cemetery.

Lansing Mother Is Taken Today
Resident of Township For Half Century, Mrs. George Schellhammer is Dead

Mrs. George Schellhammer, Sr., 68 died this morning at her home near Lansing. She suffered a stroke Sunday from which she failed to recover.
Katheryn Fitch was born July 27,1866 at Alftorf, Germany. When 20 years old she came to Postville, where she married George Schellhammer.
To this union were born seven children, thre girls and four boys: Gotlief and Charles of Lansing, George and John of Churchtown, Mrs. Bennie Marti and Mrs. Charles Rissmann of Churchtown, and Mrs. John Oesterle of Lansing, all of whom and her husband mourn her death.
Funeral services will be held Friday at one o'clock at the home and two o'clock at the Congregational church at Churchtown. Reverend C.H. Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in the Englehorn cemetery.
