Relatives in this area received word of the death of Irene (Schwartzhoff) Viola, age 76, who died Tuesday, July 21, 1987 at the nursing home in Joliet, Illinois. Services were held Friday, July 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Linus Catholic Church in Oaklawn, Illinois. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Oaklawn with Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Donald Schwartzhoff, Dale Schwartzhoff, Robert Viola, Mark Mitchell, Greg Penteris and Wayne Viola.

Irene was born March 29, 1911 in Dorchester, Iowa to Christian J. and Catherine (Danaher) Schwartzhoff. She married Edward Viola, August 1934 in Chicago, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died in September 1968 and three brothers and a sister in infancy.

Survivors include a brother Francis Schwartzhoff, Waukon, Iowa and a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Hoscheit of Caledonia, Minnesota.

Attending the funeral were Mrs. Gertrude Hoscheit, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoscheit, and Mrs. Marie Ellestad, all of Caledonia, Minnesota; Mrs. Lillian Schwartzhoff, Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCormick and Mrs. Ramona Ward, all of Waukon, Iowa; Mavis Wiskcop from Colorado; Mrs. Winifred Schwartzhoff, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schwartzhoff, and Gerald Schwartzhoff, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Schwartzhoff, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Schwartzhoff, all of Dorchester, Iowa; Helen Schwartzhoff of Rochester, Minnesota; Joe Schwartzhoff of Decorah, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Brown and Nathan of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Note: Clarence T. Schwartzhoff would be one of her deceased brothers. His obituary is in the Allamakee County posted obituaries.
