Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 18 at Mount Loretto chapel in Dubuque, Iowa for Sister Mary Thomas who died Saturday, August 15, 1987 at Presentation Convent in Dubuque, Iowa.

Sister Mary Thomas, the former Mary Collins, was born May 23, 1903 to Thomas and Anna (Byrnes) Collins. She was a former member of St. Mary's Church, Hanover, Allamakee County, Iowa. She attended rural Hanover School and graduated from St. Vincent Academy in Dubuque, Iowa. She taught in rural Hanover school before entering the Presentation Convent in Dubuque August 15, 1928. She also taught in Mason City, Monona, Humboldt, and Whittemore, Iowa schools. On July 13, 1980 she celebrated her golden jubilee.

Preceding her in death were her parents and four brothers including James Francis Collins and three in infancy.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Rowan of Watertown, Wisconsin and Mrs. Emmett (Marcella) Ward of Waukon, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
