Lansing Youth Killed In Accident
Logging Truck
Goes Off Road
Elmer Sadler Dies,
Two Others Hurt

WAUKON, Ia. -- (Special) -- One Lansing, Ia., youth was killed and two others were injured when the logging truck in which they were riding went off Highway 9, rolled over twice and skidded 90 feet. The accident happened Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
The victim, Elmer Sadler, 20, died shortly after the accident. Arteries in his neck were severed and he walked from the truck to the pavement, distance of about 90 feet, before he collapsed and died. Sadler was the driver.
Others in the truck were Forrest Sheriff, owner of the truck, who is receiving medical treatment at a La Crosse hospital, and Everett Langheim, who was treated by a Waukon physician.
Peter Hendrickson, Allamakee county sheriff, and Dr. R.R. Jeffries, acting coroner, investigated the accident and reported the truck had left the pavement about five miles northeast of Waukon on Highway 9.
Forrest Sheriff, the owner, sustained back injuries and was rushed to a La Crosse hospital. Langheim received facial injuries and was treated at Waukon, his condition not being serious.
Sadler, the victim, was born in Hanover township Jan. 4, 1927, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Sadler.
His survivors include his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Withee, Mrs. Ruth Clinton and Mrs. Beulah Sadler, all of Lansing; and two brothers, Arvid, Des Moines, and Glenn, stationed at Pearl Harbor in military service.
