Ruth H. Burke, age 81, of New Albin, Iowa died Saturday, October 11, 1986 at the Good Samaritan Center Nursing Home, Waukon, Iowa. Services were held Monday, October 13 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, New Albin, Iowa. The Rev. Robert P. Rahe officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery New Albin. Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Stanley Cronin, Mike Burke, Sean Burke, Jay Burke, Jerome Burke, and Justin Burke.

Ruth was born March 30, 1905 in Hawkeye, Iowa Fayette County to Edward and Harriet (Booth) Theobold. She married Joseph Burke on April 24, 1923 in Freeburg, Minnesota. Joseph died July 30, 1986.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a great-grandson, four brothers, and three sisters.

She is survived by 3 sons, Raymond Burke of New Albin, Iowa, Ronald Burke of Denver, Iowa, and James Burke of Readlyn, Iowa; 3 daughters, Coletta Lap of Long Beach, California, Mary Cronin of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Ruth Burke of Waukon, Iowa; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bertha Link of Caledonia, Minnesota.
