Michael "Mick" Stamper

Michael “Mick” Stamper, 58, of Waukon died Monday, January 3, 2011 at his home in Waukon. Funeral services were held Friday, January 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating.
Michael LeRoy Stamper was born January 13, 1952 in Guttenburg, the son of Victor and Nora Margaret (Grimstad) Stamper. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1970. After high school he went to work for Great Plains in Waukon for two years. Mick worked at Northern Engraving from 1972 until they closed in 2008.
January 22, 1986 he married Sue Dahlke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon. Mick was a member of Waukon Golf and Country Club for many years. He enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing and following NASCAR.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Stamper of Waukon; his children, Audrea (Mike) Peterson of Waukon, Dustin (Melissa) Folsom of Luana and Trace Stamper of Waukon; 10 grandchildren; his mother, Nora Stamper of Waukon; two sisters, LaJune (Rich) Cota of Waukon and Rhonda (Randy) Rema of Postville; a brother, Edward (Karen) Stamper of Waukon; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Dahlke of Waukon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Victor; his father-in-law, Donald Dahlke; a sister-in-law, Liz Butikofer; and a niece, Sarah Dahlke.
Honorary casketbearers were Christina, Tanner and Trent Peterson, Logan Timp, Carly and Caylee Cole, and Veda, Alana, Riely and Brock Folsom. Casketbearers were Chuck Larson, Rick Hagensick, Brian Deeney, Rich Cota, and Karl and Bill Dahlke.
