Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Donald Patrick Kinley, age 50, of Marquette, Iowa died Friday, January 29, 1988 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Monday, February 1 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McGregor, Iowa with Father Hubert Boschert officiating. Burial was in the Cherry Mound Church Cemetery, Allamakee County, rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Thornburg Funeral Home of McGregor, Iowa was in charge of arrangememts.
Donald was born October 10, 1937 on a rural Harpers Ferry farm near Cherry Mound to Frank and Agnes (Orr) Kinley. He attended grade school at Harpers Ferry and graduated from Waukon High School. He served four years in the United States Navy. On August 17, 1963 he married Donna Marie Ball at Lansing, Iowa. He was a professional baker most of his working life. He attended Dunwoody School of Baking in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the American Institute of Baking in Chicago, Illinois. In 1976, he and his family moved to Marquette, Iowa where he operated the Corner Tap and was a baker at Martin Luther Preparatory School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
Preceding him in death were his parents and four brothers, James Kinley, William Kelly, John Kelly, and Raymond Kelly.
Surviving are his wife, Donna; 2 sons, John Patrick Kinley of Marquette, Iowa and James Joseph Kinley of Iowa City, Iowa; 2 brothers, Daniel Kinley of Marquette, Iowa and Adrian Kinley of Waterloo, Iowa; 4 sisters, Mrs. Keith (Rose) McGeough of Waterville, Iowa, Mrs. Eugene (Teresa) Mielke of Monona, Iowa, Harriet Livingston of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Hazel Olson of Lansing, Iowa.
