Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Agnes G. Thorsen, age 91, of rural Waterville, Iowa, died Monday, February 16, 1987 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Waterville Lutheran Church in Waterville, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers will be Orville Bratrud, Norman Monserud, Leo McCormick, Howard Sorenson, William Vorseth, and Gary Kolsrud. Burial will be in the Waterville Lutheran Church cemetery.
Agnes was born February 19, 1895 in Waterville, Iowa Allamakee County to Anfin and Julia (Andersen) Larson. She attended Waterville schools and had piano training at Ladies' Seminary in Red Wing, Minnesota. On December 12, 1923 she married Emil Thorsen at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church. He died January 29, 1980. They lived most of their lives in Waterville and spent some time in Chicago, Illinois, Denver, Colorado, Sioux City, Iowa, and St. Paul, Minnesota. Her husband was an industrial engineer for meat packing companies. She was a homemaker and piano and organ teacher. She was a member of Waterville Lutheran Church where she was church organist and choir director for many years. She was also a member of the Waterville Lutheran Ladies Aid Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil and a brother Ingeman Larson.
Survivors include four sons: Norman Thorsen and Glenn Thorsen, both of Waterville, Iowa, Theodore Thorsen of Roselle, Illinois, and Wilbur Thorsen of Troy, Michigan; a daughter, Mrs. Howard (Arlene) Olson of Kennesaw, Georgia; 6 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
