Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Arlene J. Olson, age 58, of Kennisaw, Georgia, died Wednesday, February 25, 1987 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 28 at 1 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Kennesaw with the Rev. John W. Hendrick officiating and services were held at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. Monday, March 2 with the Revs. Judd Larson and Donald Berg officiating. Burial was in Old West Paint Creek Church Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Arlene was born May 31, 1928 in Waterville, Iowa to Emil M. and Agnes (Larson) Thorsen. She graduated from Waterville High School and Augsburg College, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married Howard A. Olson on September 8, 1958 at the Decorah Lutheran Church. She taught advanced and special education in Worthington, Minnesota, Racine, Wisconsin, West Bend, Wisconsin, and Plainfield, Illinois. She worked in a newspaper office in Bridgeman, Minnesota and had worked in the dental office of her son Dr. David Olson. She was a member of First United Lutheran Church in Kennesaw. She also had lived in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Virginia, and Bridgeman, Minnesota, Plainfield and Colchester, Illinois and Lithia Springs, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her father, who died January 29, 1980 and her mother, who died nine days ago on February 16, 1987.
She is survived by her husband, Howard, a son, Dr. David E. Olson and a daughter, Heidi Olson, all of Kennesaw, Georgia; 4 brothers, Norman Thorsen and Glenn Thorsen, of Waterville, Iowa, Theodore Thorsen of Roselle, Illinois and Wilbur Thorsen of Troy, Michigan.
