Herbert W. Zimmerman, age 73, of Waukon, Iowa died Friday, December 12, 1986 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Services were held Monday, December 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Revs. Larry Duenas and Edward Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Lycurgus Cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were David and Brian Zimmerman, Steve Bakke, Gary and Ronald Lippe, and Bill Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Gary and Todd Zimmerman, Dean and Todd Bakke, and Robert and Perry Campbell.

Herb was born December 15, 1912 in Lansing Iowa to William and Christina (Schellhammer) Zimmerman. He attended local schools. He married Marie K. Dougherty on June 8, 1937 at St. Mary's Lycurgus Church. He was a farmer and feed salesman. They lived on the family farm in Center Township, Lansing until 1980 when they moved to Waukon, Iowa. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa.

Survivors are his wife, Marie; 2 daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Janet) Kreitzer of Cresco, Iowa and Kay Zimmerman of Waukon, Iowa; 2 grandchildren, Scott and Kristina Kreitzer; a brother Wally Zimmerman of Waukon, Iowa; 2 sisters, Esther Humphreys of Dover, Delaware, and Sylvia Bakke of Waterville, Iowa; a half-sister Shirley Rose of Waukon, Iowa; a step-brother Milton Wild of Lansing, Iowa and 4 step-sisters, Orabelle (Betty) Wild and Arlene Campbell, both of Waukon, Iowa, Eleanor Mouw of Madison, Tennessee, and Sylvia Hayes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
