New Albin farmer Charles E. Hartley, age 73, died Saturday, December 14, 1986 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning December 17 at the New Albin Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Milton Kading and Rev. Robert Rahe conducted the 11 a.m. services. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, New Albin, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Dean Hartley, Ronald Hartley, Steven Mohwinkle, Michael Hartley, Ray Whalen, and Robert Sadler.

Charles Hartley was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on April 9, 1912 to Joseph and Carrie (Howes) Hartley. He attended local schools. He married the former Marion Ryan on January 29, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa. His wife survives as do three sons, Joseph Hartley of Eastman, Wisconsin, Thomas Hartley of New Albin, Iowa and James Hartley of Creve Coeur, Missouri; a daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Mary Ellen) Mohwinkle of Waukon, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marian Raby of Boulder, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by a son Charles Hartley, a granddaughter, Connie, brothers John Joseph, and Albert *Not certain if that is suppose to be John, Joseph, and Albert or if it is 2 brothers, John Joseph, and Albert.* and sisters, Ethel and Belle.
