Retired Dorchester, Iowa farmer Franklin Wenig, age 79, died Monday, November 18, 1985 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services are set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 21 at St. John's United Methodist Church in Dorchester with burial in the Methodist Church cemetery. The Rev. Dean Shelly will conduct the services. The Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, Minnesota is handling the arrangements.

Franklin was born in Dorchester, Iowa on August 17, 1906, the son of George and Wilhelmine (Schefelbine) Wenig. He farmed in the Dorchester area until his retirement in 1972. He and Erma Wiemerslage were married in Waukon on July 6, 1938.

He was preceded in death by a son and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Erma; 3 sons: Romaine Wenig and Roland Wenig, both of Rockford, Illinois, and Duane Wenig of Dorchester, Iowa; 2 daughters, Mrs. Charles (Barbara) Boyle of Elma, Iowa and Mrs. Elvin C. (Dorothy) Oesterle of Rockland, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren and a brother Edwin Wenig of Waukon, Iowa.
