Waukon resident Kathryn Ida Quillin, age 68, died Saturday August 17, 1985 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning August 20 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa. The Rev. John W. Moran conducted the 11 a.m. services. Burial was in St.Joseph's Cemetery in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were William Walsh, Edward Wallech, Leo Livingston, Michael Quillin, Kevin Quillin, and Sean Quillin. Honorary pallbearers were Patrick Quillin, Tim Quillin, Terry Quillin, Ed Delphey, Mel Wiedner, W.L. "Bill" Cota, Ole Valley, Vic Schiers, John Ryan, and Butch Whittle.

Kathryn was born in Harpers Ferry, Iowa on July 6, 1917, the daughter of John J. and Eline M. Quillin. She graduated from Harpers Ferry High School and Waukon Junior College. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Catholic Church. A retired cafe operator and priest's housekeeper, Miss Quillin had lived in Harpers Ferry, St. Lucas, Monona, and Waukon, Iowa and Grand Meadow, Minnesota. Her cafe is featured in John Madson's book "Up On the River", a chronicle on the Mississippi River.

Miss Quillin is survived by her brother, Ben Quillin of Waukon, Iowa.
