Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 3 at 1 p.m. from St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa for Doris L. Monson, age 51, of Waukon, Iowa who died August 31, 1985 at Hillview Nursing Home in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She had been the theatre manager at the movie theatre in Waukon, Iowa. The Rev. Lynn Groe officiated. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were John Westby, Ronnie Vickerman, Wayne Wise, Dean and Larry Solem, and Bobby Koch.

Doris was the daughter of Lloyd and Clara M. (Gander) Ruroden. She was born March 5, 1934 in Lansing, Iowa. She was educated in Winneshiek county schools and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She and Maynard Monson were married on June 24, 1951 in Decorah, Iowa.

Surviving are her husband, Maynard; her mother Clara Ruroden of Mabel, Minnesota; 2 daughters, Shirley Ann Thompson and Mrs. Phillip (Sheryl) Young, both of Waukon, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mrs. Ruth Westby of Mabel, Minnesota, Mrs. Roger (Lorene) Solem of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Warren (Shirley) Wise of Hiawatha, Iowa and Mrs. Betty Bailey of Paramount, California.
