Helen R. Hitchcock, age 82, of Yonkers, New York died Thursday, December 24, 1987 at Sprain Brook Manor, Scarsdale, New York. Helen R. Riehl was born December 1, 1905 in New York state and was one of the many children who came west on the orphan train. She was raised by the John Buntrock family in French Creek Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. At the age of 16, she returned to New York where other brothers and sisters resided. After attending business college, she was employed by the Grolier Society of New York City. After a career of 47 years, she retired as one of their publishing editors. The Book of Knowledge is one of the publications with which she was involved.

On June 27, 1929 she married Ralph Hitchcock and they lived all their married life in Yonkers. She was preceded in death by her husband; 3 brothers, Ernest and Frank Riehl of New York, City and Fred Riehl of Colorado; and two sisters, Carol Buntrock and Josephine Buntrock who were both residents of French Creek Township, Allamakee County, Iowa.

She is survived by 2 sisters, Edith Keeley and Mary Quinn, both residing in New York state.

Carol Buntrock's daughter, Jane Tepesch, resides in Waukon, Iowa and Josephine Buntrock's son, Dale, resides in French Creek Township, Allamakee County, Iowa.
