Contributor: Connie Ellis (Schlitter Family researcher)Paul August Strelow, age 74, died Thursday, October 30, 1986 at his home in Volney, Iowa. Services were held Monday, November 3 at 10 a.m. at Garden City Methodist Church in Monona, Iowa with Rev. Marion Bloodworth officiating. Schultz funeral home of Monona was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Ronald Mueller, Charles Fick, Brad Freilinger, Ron Leas, Franklin Schlitter, and Jeff Kruse. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery at Volney, Iowa.
Paul was born January 31, 1912 to Gustave and Bertha (Voelzke) Strelow in Volney, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Volney Methodist Church. He attended school in Monona. On June 14, 1941 he married Ethel Caroline Schlitter at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They farmed near Volney until his retirement 10 years ago, but remained on the farm until his death. He was a member of Garden City Methodist Church, was an assessor for Volney Township, and an election official.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; a son, Roger Strelow of Waterloo, Iowa and a daughter, Pauline (Mrs. Leon Ralston) of DeBois, Wyoming; 4 grandchildren, a great grandchild, and nieces and nephews.
