Vernon E."Mickey" Huffman, age 71, of Rossville, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 18, 1986 in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 21 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Jacobson and Dr. Keith Kensinger officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Leon Hildebrand, Wayne Thorstenson, Jerry Holien, Sandy Sanderson, Everett Stahl, and Stan Erickson. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Ruhser, Eldo Roffman, Neil Leas, Herb Straate, John Boardman, Telmer Olson, Walter Troendle, Walter Hagen, Norman Leiran, and Norm Barth.

Mickey was a lifelong resident of the area, born in Volney on November 2, 1914 to Earl and Winnifred (Kuehne) Huffman. He attended local rural schools and Waterville High School. He married Vivian Nipper on March 10, 1940 in Decorah, Iowa. He and Vivian operated Huffman's Shell Gas Station in Rossville, Iowa for 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian; his mother, Winnie Huffman; a sister, Gretta May Cahalan of East Moline, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
