Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15 at Immaculate Conception Church, Wexford, Allamakee County, Iowa for Father Robert P. Rahe, of rural Lansing, Iowa. He died Tuesday, July 12, 1988 at the age of 70 in St. Francis Medical Center, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The Most Rev. Daniel Kucera, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Iowa and the Most Rev. James J. Byrne conducted the services. Burial was in the Wexford Church cemetery with Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home of Lansing, Iowa in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Ott Meier, Dennis Dolan, Micky Madden, Paul Helle, Bob Scally, and Ron Scally.

Father Rahe was born September 13, 1917 in Dyersville, Iowa to Andrew and Emma (Kramer) Rahe. He graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa and St. Paul Seminary in Minnesota. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1942 and from 1948 until retiring in 1987, he had served associate and full pastorates at St. Luke Catholic Church, St. Lucas, Iowa; St. Mary's, Dubuque, Iowa; Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Wexford, Iowa; St. Mary's-Mount Carmel, Eagle Center, Iowa; Immaculate Conception, Blessing, Iowa; St. Joseph's, Greeley, Iowa; St. Joseph's, New Albin, Iowa, and St. Mary's, Lycurgus, Allamakee County, Iowa. He served St. Joseph's-St. Mary from 1982 to 1987.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Surviving are a brother, Brother Charles Rahe of Ft.Worth, Texas and a sister, Harriet Kratz of Scottsdale, Arizona.
