Steven J. Bakewell, age 19, of Onalaska, Wisconsin died Sunday, May 15, 1988 near Pettibone Park, LaCrosse, Wisconsin in a drowning accident. Services were held at 10:30 Wednesday, May 18 in Fossum Funeral Home, Onalaska and at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Steven was born November 3, 1968 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Ralph and Kathy (Netwal) Bakewell. He was a 1987 graduate of Holmen High School and was currently a freshman at Winona State College in Winona, Minnesota.

Survivors are his parents, Ralph and Kathy Bakewell; paternal grandmother, Luella Bakewell of Waukon, Iowa; maternal grandparents Jerome and Lota Netwal of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; and 2 sisters, Debbie and Diane Bakewell, both at home.
