Funeral services have been set for Wednesday, August 5 for Honroe L. Evanson, age 64, formerly of rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa who died Saturday August 1, 1987 at the Winona Community Hospital, Winona, Minnesota. The 1:30 p.m. services will be held at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Lynn Groe will officiate. Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers are Jim and Steven Evanson, Rick and Dave Mathis, Norman Rema and Charles Berns.

Honroe was born May 6, 1923 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa to Oscar and Henrietta (Rema) Evanson. He attended rural Allamakee County Schools and Waukon High School. On September 14, 1950 he married Wilma Hanson at Old West Paint Creek Church. He was a retired farmer, a 1968-1979 employee of Iowa Turkey Products in Postville, Iowa and a member of Old East Paint Creek Church. He was a lifetime area resident until moving to Winona, Minnesota five months ago.

He was preceded in death by a son William Evanson.

Surviving are his wife, a son Robert Evanson of Winona, Minnesota; 3 daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Betty) Finley of Stewartville, Minnesota, Mrs. Chris (Lucille) Halcro of Power, Montana and Mrs. Gary (Carol) Whittle of Lansing, Iowa; 5 grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte Mathis of Harpers Ferry, Iowa and 2 brothers, Melbourne Evanson of Waterville, Iowa and Alton Evanson of Monona, Iowa.
