Helen marie, daughter of Andrew and Floy Clawson Jones, was born on a farm near Ion on December 21, 1918, and died after a lingering illness at her home in Luana on May 14, 1955, at the age of 36 years, four months and 23 days.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church tuesday afternoon with burial in the Sixteen cemetery.
She received her schooling at Ion, where she lived until her marriage in 1935 to Darwin Brown. They settled in Luana at that time, and have lived there ever since. The influence of their lives has extended to the entire community there, through his work as custodian of the school and hers as manager of the hot lunches. the have also been active members of the Methodist Church and prominent in community life. to them was born one son, James Arden.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Pearl (Mrs. Harmon Hamm). Still surviving are her husband and her son, both of Luana; her parents at Ion; five brothers, Carlton of Waterville, and John, Dayton, Milton and Leon of Ion; and five sisters, Irene (Mrs. Robert Benzing) of McGregor; Lorraine (Mrs. Herbert Schlitter) of Ion; Vera (Mrs Marvel Redalen) of Fountain, Minnesota; Ruth (Mrs. Guy Hamm) of Dubuque; and Janet (Mrs. Stanley Miller) of Wellman. With them, an entire community mourns her going.
