Funeral services were held Monday, December 5 at St. John's Lutheran Church for Ellen B. Dee of Waukon, Iowa. She died Thursday, December 1, 1988 in Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. The Rev. Lynn Groe and the Rev. Chris Clarkson conducted the 2 p.m. services. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were John Ashbacher, Robert Dotseth, Everett Ellefson, Allen Goeke, LeRoy Schmidt, and Eugene Yohe.

Ellen was born November 10, 1900 near Dalby to Otto and Jonetta (Jenson) Peterson. She attended rural schools in the Lansing, Iowa area. She worked as a housekeeper for families in the Lansing area before her marriage to William A. Dee on September 26, 1936 in Cresco, Iowa. She sang in the choir at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lansing. After moving to Waukon, Iowa she became a member of St.John's Lutheran Church and was active in Altar Guild, Ladies Aid and church circles. She received a life membership for dedicated service from the church women's organization of St.John's.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Gayle (Johanna) McCoy and two brothers, Carl and Hjalmer Peterson.

Surviving are her husband, a son, Arden Dee of Norwalk, California, and four sisters, Mrs. Levi (Esther) Sweat of New Albin, Iowa; Mrs. Jennie Uren, Mrs. Eugene (Martina) Wood, and Mrs. Theodore (Minnie) Troendle, all of Lansing, Iowa.
