Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Robert O. Anderson, age 72, of Waukon, Iowa died Wednesday, March 29, 1989 at Clearwater, Washington when the fishing boat he was riding in capsized. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday April 3 at St.Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon. Father Ed Lechtenberg officiated and burial was in Mt.Olivet Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Bob McDonald, Bill Waldron, Christopher Wolfe, Ryan Welch, Josh Welch, Walter Larson, LeRoy McCabe, and Chuck Luther.
Bob was born July 30, 1916 in Galesburg, Illinois to August and Mabel (Guider) Anderson. He graduated from Waukon High School and married Betty Sandbeck September 7, 1946. She died February 28, 1982. He was a partner/operator of Anderson Feed and Produce in Waukon. He was a member of St.Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and president of the Waukon Chapter of St.Vincent de Paul Society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, son Thomas Anderson in 1971 and a brother Lawrence Anderson.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Clair (Jane) Welch of LaCrescent, Minnesota, Mrs. Gary (Mary) Wolfe of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Mrs. Stephen (Carol) Lahr of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mrs. Gregory (Judy) Heinz of Trempealeau, Wisconsin, and Kay Dillon of Denver, Colorado; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph of Waukon and Paul of Lakeland, Florida; and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Marjorie) Howe of Waukon, Iowa
