Funeral services were held Friday, December 30, 1988 for Mary (O'Brien) Elliott who died Tuesday, December 27, 1988 at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she had been a resident for several months. The 1 p.m. services were held in Chapel of Memories in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Richard Newhall of St.Paul's Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mary was born March 4, 1906 to Warren and Lena (Koehring) O'Brien of Waukon. She graduated from Waukon High School and attended Waukon Junior College. She taught in rural Allamakee County schools for three years. On September 19, 1950 she married William C. Elliott of Cedar Rapids. He died January 22, 1987. She was employed in sales at various department stores in Cedar Rapids before retiring.

Preceding her in death were her husband, a sister Florence Chapin and a brother Leslie O'Brien.

Survivors include a brother Kenneth O'Brien of Waukon,Iowa, two nephews, Larry O'Brien of Madison, Wisconsin and Daniel O'Brien of Springfield, Illinois; three nieces, Sharon Kotaska of Naperville, Illinois, Colleen Randel of Overton, Texas, and Patricia Rehder of Des Moines, Iowa; a step-son, John W. Elliott of Cedar Rapids; a step-daughter, Barbara Evans of Kalamazoo, Michigan; eight step-grandchildren and 15 step-great grandchildren.
