Funeral services were held Monday January 2 for Flora J. Marti, age 86, who died Friday December 30, 1988 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. The 1 p.m. services were held at Martin Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was in the Lansing Ridge Cemetery. Casket bearers were Roger, Lee, and Gary Kerndt, Michael and Monte Marti, and Walter Larson.

Flora was born January 30, 1902 in Postville, Iowa to George and Kathryn (Vitz) Schellhammer. She attended rural Allamakee County schools. She married Ben R. Marti in Dubuque, Iowa March 25, 1925. They farmed in Makee Township until 1964 when they moved to Waukon, Iowa. He died July 20, 1969. She became a resident in September 1988 of the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. She was a member of Women's organizations of First Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lizzie and Christina, and two brothers Gottlieb and Charles Schellhammer.

Surviving are two children Harold Marti and Mrs. Willard (Arlene) Kerndt, both of Lansing, Iowa; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Schellhammer of Waukon and George Schellhammer of West Bend, Iowa and a sister, Mrs. John (Laura) Oesterle of Waukon, Iowa.
