Eileen Mae DeMarr

Eileen Mae DeMarr, the daughter of Edward and Hulda (Busacker) Nuehring, was born December 14, 1921 on the family farm south of Postville. She passed away at her home in Sarasota, Florida on April 3, 2001.

She was baptized January 18, 1922 by Rev. E. Schmidt and confirmed on April 5, 1937 by Rev. R. B. Garten, all in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. Eileen attended the Larrabee School in Grand Meadow Township and graduated from Postville High School in 1939. She was employed in Chicago for a time and later on June 11, 1954 was married to Robert DeMarr. To this union two children were born. Many years were spent in Arlington Heights, Illinois, summers at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and winters in Sarasota, Florida. She enjoyed traveling around the world and playing golf.

She had struggled to overcome lymphoma for many years. Her cause of death was myelodysplasis, a terminal form of leukemia. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild, and her brother Elliot.

Eileen is survived by her husband Robert, a son Michael (Nancy), a daughter Linda (Chris) Johnstin, seven grandchildren, brothers Elery Nuehring of Madison, Wis., Eldred (Darlene) Nuehring, Alden (Dorothy) Nuehring, a sister Ellen Thoma of Postville, besides nieces and nephews.
