Rose V. Gerkey died Thursday March 2, 1989 at the age of 91 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday, March 6 at St.Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. Father Ed Lechtenberg conducted the 10 a.m. services and burial was in the Boyd, Wisconsin cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was charge of arrangements.

Rose was born November 27, 1897 in Duluth, Minnesota to Edward and Margaret (Spaeth) Lorens. She was a homemaker and the widow of Louis Gerkey, a Waukon barber.

Casket bearers were Jim Campbell, John Campbell, Les Delaney, Bob O'Neil, Robert Irons, and Leo Murphy.
