Funeral services were held Thursday, October 13 at 2 p.m. for Leone G. Lippe, age 72, of Waukon, Iowa who died Monday, October 10, 1988 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Father Donald Plamondon conducted the services held at St.Mary's Lycurgus, and burial was in the church cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Carroll Gackstetter, Wayne Kreitzer, Leonard Hanson, Don Hrdina, Harvey Rissman, and Curtis Clark. Honorary pallbearers were Raymond and William Dougherty, Roger Lippe, and Donald Bulman.

Jim Hanson was the lector and Herb Larkin was communion distributor. Special music was provided by the Hanson Sisters of West Union, Iowa. They are the daughters of former Waukon residents, Leonard and Mary Jane Hanson. The girls are: Sue McDonough, Linda Graham, Nancy and Peggy Hanson, Laurie Carolan, and Mary Davis.

Leone was born September 26, 1916 in Waukon, Iowa to Leo James and Stella (Haas) Dougherty. She received her education in Allamakee County and the Waukon High School. On February 23, 1946 she married Henry G. Lippe at Lycurgus. She was a retired food service worker for the Allamakee Community Schools and a member of St.Mary's Church, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and the Rosary Society. She had lived in Freeport, Illinois, St.Paul, Minnesota and Waukon.

Surviving are her husband, two sons Gary Lippe of Waterloo, Iowa and Ron Lippe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two daughters, Anne Steffenson of Waukon, and Barb Hershberger of Jesup, Iowa; six grandchildren, and two sisters, Marie Zimmerman of Waukon, Iowa and Stelle O'Hara of Wilmington Delaware.
