Lifetime area resident Cyril "Mike" McKee, age 67, of Waukon, Iowa died Tuesday January 3, 1989 at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Friday, January 6 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Roger Reed, Vern McKee, Dean McKee, Arlando Anderson, Jack Marsden, and Oliver Roderick. Honorary pallbearers were Maynard Folstad, Jim Moe, Curt Hanson, Willard Halvorson, Jacob Bresnahan, Danny Douglas, and Verdine Berns.

Cyril was born October 15, 1921 in Lansing, Iowa to James R. and Alty (Patterson) McKee. He attended rural Lansing schools and Lansing High School. In 1951 he married Eva Brown in Manchester, Iowa. She died July 6, 1971. He married Elinor Jeanne Johnson June 1, 1974 at St.John's Church. He farmed near Lansing until 1972 when he moved to Waukon. He also worked for Cooney and Bruening Construction Companies.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Richard McKee.

Surviving are his wife Elinor, three step-children David Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Rod (Debbie) Johnson Sickels and Mrs. Bernell (Dianna) Palas, both of Waukon; five step-grandchildren, three brothers, Ernest and Cletus, both of Lansing, and DeVillo McKey of Caledonia, Minnesota, and three sisters, Mrs. Louis (Drucilla) Johnson of Manchester, Iowa, Mrs. Robert (Della) Reed of Lansing, Iowa and Mrs. Emmett (Aletha) Johnson of Decorah, Iowa.
