Funeral services for Earl R.H, Gruber, 84, of Waukon, Iowa were held Friday, October 14 at Zion United Church of Christ with the Rev. Henry Heinbuch conducting the 2 p.m. services. He died Tuesday, October 11,1988 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Curtis Gramlich, Burton Feuerhelm, Robert Leppert, Robert Fritz, Donald Leppert, and Eugene Oesterle. Honorary pallbearers were Silas Troendle, Alfred Hanson, Alvin Hanson, John Oesterle, Roy Loven, Harold Ashbacher, and Gilbert Eadie.

Earl was born July 4, 1904 in Allamakee County to Moritz and Ella (Henry) Gruber. He attended local schools. On June 20, 1933 he married Doris Larson in Dubuque, Iowa. He was a member of Zion U.C.C.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harris Gruber and Everett Gruber.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Earl of Des Moines, Iowa, Neal of Huntington Beach, California; a daughter, Mrs. Jay (Marilynn) Lancaster of Ripley, Mississippi; five grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Bakewell of New Albin, Iowa and Hazel Aldrich of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
