Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Emil Julius Lippe, 78, of Waukon, Iowa died Tuesday July 4, 1989 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday July 7 at St.John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in Old West Paint Creek Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Tom and Rick Leiran, Dean Johnson, Curtis Lippe, Allan Rissman, and Tennis Halvorson. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Lippe and Harvey Rissman.
Emil was born October 18, 1910 in Allamakee County, Iowa to John and Emma (Rissman) Lippe. He attended rural country schools through the eighth grade. On May 12, 1937 he married Edna M. Halvorson in Waukon, Iowa. She died June 30, 1986. He was an independent mechanic and a member of St.John's Church.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard and Herman Lippe and a sister Mildred.
Surviving are three sons, Roger Lippe of Waukon, Iowa, James Lippe of Ames, Iowa and Robert Lippe of Hamilton, Illinois; four grandchildren, two sisters, Viete Hanson of Herndon, Virginia and Mrs. Wallace (Lorine) Nesbitt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a brother Gus Lippe of Waukon, Iowa.
