Nora Amanda Grotegut died Monday, May 15, 1989 at the age of 86 at the Good Samaritan Center, Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held May 17 at 11 a.m. at Salem United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Elsa Marsland officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Craig, Gary, and Terry Grotegut, Mike Kimber, Neil Krumme, and Neil Sanderman.

Nora was born December 20, 1902 in Union Prairie Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to Gus and Lucinda (Meier) Saak and attended rural schools through the eighth grade. On July 17, 1923 she married Reuben C. Grotegut at Zalmona Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of Salem UCC where she was active in women's church groups. She made lefse for local grocery stores. She entered the County Care Facility in February and became a resident of Good Sam in April after a short hospitalization.

Surviving are two sons, Roger and Willard, both of Waukon, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband who died December 22, 1979 and a brother Otto Saak.
