Meta C. Hansmeier, 87, died Wednesday May 10, 1989, at the Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ with the Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Ralph Renne, Lloyd Bechtel, Gerald Kurth, Carl Beall, Gordon Hansmeier, and Roger Hansmeier.

Meta was born October 6, 1901 in Ludlow Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to Fred and Mary (Klocke) Renne. She attended rural county schools and on June 1, 1943 she married Benjamin T. Hansmeier at Zion UCC parsonage. He died November 1, 1967. She lived most of her life in Allamakee County except when she lived in Madison, Wisconsin. She was a homemaker and also did some housekeeping for other families. She was a member of Zion UCC and its Martha Circle.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Esther and Laura and a brother Arthur.

Surviving are five step-children, Ruth Nolting, Harvey and Marvin "Dick" Hansmeier, all of Waukon, Iowa, Mrs. Kenneth (Leona) Bell of Plano, Texas, and Ralph Hansmeier of Franklin, Indiana; 11 step-grandchildren and 18 step-great grandchildren.
