Services Held For Roy Duwe

Funeral services for Roy Duwe, 65, of Postville were held Saturday morning, Sept. 4, at 10 o'clock at St. Paul Lutheran church in Postville with Rev. Walter Otto officiating.

Burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Mr. Duwe died suddenly Wednesday, Sept. 1, at his home.

As Roy George Henry, he was born a son of Joseph and Elizabeth, nee Bareis, Duwe in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Oct. 20, 1905.

He was baptized Feb. 24, 1906, in St. Paul Lutheran church at Postville, where he was a life long member. He was confirmed Sept. 14, 1919.

He was married Oct. 15, 1929 to Leola Meyer at Guttenberg.

Mr. Duwe received his education in the rural schools. After his marriage, the couple farmed until 1952, after which he was in the implement business and was a feed salesman.

He had served on the St. Paul Lutheran church council and in the Brotherhood. At the time of his death, he was also a member of the Postville town council.

Preceding him in death were his father and an infant brother.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Carlyle (Inez) Kirkeberg of Monona; a son, LeRoy of Postville; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Duwe of Postville; five sisters, Helen and Viola Duwe of Postville, Mrs. Harvey (Celia) Engelhardt of Monona, Mrs. Charles (Florence) Schutte, Jr. of Luana, and Mrs. Clara Schroeder of Postville; and seven grandchildren.
