Virgil L.Groves, 70, died suddenly at his home in Omaha, Nebraska July 13, 1989. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 15, 1989. Those from this area attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Jones of rural Lansing, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dlouhy of Walker, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Dimmer and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Jones of Dubuque, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. Willi Buerger of Garber, Iowa.

Survivors are his wife Grace, (maiden name Jones, formerly of Waterville-Rossville, Iowa area), two sons, Robert Schulte of Jacksonville, Florida and Charles Schulte; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Marilyn) Bernardini and Mrs. Elaine Korus; three grandchildren, Kenneth, Joseph, and Kathryn Korus, all of Omaha; a brother Edward; three sisters, Mrs. Carl (Verna) Palm, Mrs. Reno (Ethel)Blum and Mrs. Marvin (Darline) Zimmerman, all of Omaha, and several nieces and nephews. Virgil was the son-in-law of Mrs. Ruth Jones of Waukon, Iowa.
