Funeral services were held for Harriet S. Hill, Wednesday, April 26, 11 a.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home, Postville, Iowa. Rev. Terrance Hennesy officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Gus Meyer, Milo Meyer, Dr. M.F. Kiesau, Wayne Schroeder, Jerome Lenth, and Ron Taylor.

Harriet Susan Hill, daughter of William and Jenni (Orr) Leui was born September 2, 1887 in Postville,, Iowa. She died Monday, April 24, 1989 in the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa. After graduating from the Postville Schools, she attended Cornell College at Mount Vernon, Iowa for three years and then transferred to the University of Wisconsin from which she received her BA Degree. She taught in the high schools of Waunakee, Wisconsin, Monona, Iowa, and Mason City, Iowa.

On February 14, 1912 she married Louis L. Hill of Nashua, Iowa. For 2 years they lived in Lincoln, Nebraska. They then moved to Columbus, Ohio and six years later they came to Postville where she has since resided. Here they first took over the management of the William Leui farms for 3 years and then bought into the Schroeder and Brenner Hardware firm which became the Brenner and Hill Hardware and later the Louis L. Hill Hardware in Postville, Iowa.

The Hills had one son, Louis Hill, Jr., who made his home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville; Order of the Eastern Star, Postville Chapter No. 238; of P.E.O., Chapter F.T.; of the American Legion Auxiliary, Arthur Brandt Unit and of the Postville Monday Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died in April 1970 and her son in August 1986, her parents and her only sister, Mrs. Arbe Behrens.
