Travis Lee Dibble, son of Leon and Marcia (Lyngaas) Dibble, was born Oct. 3, 1978 at West Union, Iowa. He died December 24, 1993 at LaCrosse, Wis. as the result of an accident with an all-terrain vehicle. He was 15.

Travis was baptized at East Clermont Lutheran Church and confirmed there on Oct. 31, 1993. He was a freshman at Postville Community Schools. He participated in FFA and basketball. He also enjoyed the outdoors, and he especially enjoyed operating farm machinery. Some of his other interest were Indian heritage, 4-H, horses, and just recently, fish.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Helmer Lyngaas. Surviving are his two sisters, Trista and Taryn, both at home; his paternal grandparents, Jack and Ardis Dibble, and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Lyngaas, all of Postville.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 28, 1993 at 11 a.m. in the East Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Postville, the Rev. Harry Peterson officiating. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Neil Sass, Paul Rechsteiner, Cory Hagensick, Sam Sadler, Jed Dean and Mark Penrod.

LOCAL TEEN KILLED IN ATV ACCIDENT

A rural Postville teenager was killed Friday when his all-terrain vehicle was struck broadside by a pickup.

Travis Dibble, 15, son of Leon and Marcia Dibble of Postville, died Friday evening in Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI.

The Iowa State Patrol said Dibble drove the four-wheel drive ATV west out of a farm driveway and crossed into the path of a pickup driven by Milton Olson, 36, of Postville.

Dibble was thrown from the vehicle.

Olson was driving north-bound on County Road W-64 five miles southeast of Postville.

The accident happened at 4:15 p.m.

Dibble was first transported to Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union.

He was then transferred by air ambulance to the LaCrosse Hospital.

Travis was a freshman at Postville High School where he was active in basketball and FFA. He was also active in 4-H. He is survived by his parents, Leon and Marcia Dibble, and his two sisters, Trista and Taryn, all of Postville.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at East Clermont Lutheran Church. Arrangements were made by Schutte's Funeral Home, Postville.
