Eilert H. Ellefson, 93, of rural Waterville, Iowa, died October 2, 1989 at the Waukon Good Samaritan Center. He was a retired farmer. He was born February 2, 1896 in Paint Creek Township, Allamakee County, Iowa, the son of John O. and Jacobina (Pederson) Ellefson. He married Helen Katinka Lier on June 25, 1919. She died June 3, 1978. He was a lifetime resident of Paint Creek township.

Surviving are a son, Everett of Waukon, Iowa and a daughter, Carma J. Myers, of Waterville. Also surviving are four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau, the American Legion, the VFW and held various offices in Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, where services were held on October 4, at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Gary Bachman officiated, with burial in the church cemetery.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Odin, Ingvold, Sigbart, Roland, Ralph, Elmer, Johanna, and Celestina.

Pallbearers were Roger Ellefson, Joseph Papp, Gordon Skuster, Robert Lier, Charles Ebner, and Charles Bulman. The Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
