John M. Hoth, 58, Salix, Iowa, died November 24, 1989 at his home after a short illness. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27 at the Community United Methodist Church, Salix. The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2 at the St.Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, with burial in the Postville Cemetery.

John M. Hoth, the son of Elmer C. and Ella (Meier) Hoth, was born July 29, 1931 at Postville. He was baptized August 23, 1931 at St.Paul Lutheran Church and confirmed there March 25, 1945. He was a graduate of Postville High School. He married Genevieve C. Huff October 1, 1969 at Sioux City, Iowa. They had 1 son. He was a State Conservation Officer for the Iowa Dept. of Natural Resources for 27 years. He retired July 6, 1989.

He was a member of the St.Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. He was a member of the American Legion in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, the Izaac Walton League, Woodbury Peace Officers Association and was a former member of the Iowa Fish Game Officers Assn. He was a U.S.Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Genevieve, son, Jay, stationed at the Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico; 1 step-son and his wife, William and Deborah Huff of Salix, Iowa; 1 step-daughter and her husband, Patty and Mike Ting, of Sloan, Iowa; 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter; 1 niece and 1 nephew and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Charles Hoth.
