Mabel Julia (Swenson) Pearson was born March 14, 1908 at Cherry Valley, Allamakee County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the United Brethren Church at Forest Mills, Iowa. She was a homemaker and beautician. On September 1, 1926 she was united in marriage to Leonard V. Pearson at Waukon, Iowa by Rev. Van Nice. To this union one son was born. They farmed in rural Hardin for several years.

Mabel died Sunday, February 8, 1998 at Trinity Regional Hospital, Ft. Dodge, Iowa. She was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona, Iowa. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery, Postville, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Leonard who died June 2, 1989; one sister, Mildred Johnson; two brothers, Lloyd and Harley Swenson.

Surviving are her son, Robert L. Pearson and his wife, Donna (Moellering) Pearson of Ft. Dodge; two grandchildren, Tracy Lynn and her husband, Atty Mark Walk of Osage, Iowa and Dr. Eric Pearson and wife Lynette of Ft. Dodge. Also four great-grandchildren, Allison and Stephany Walk and Jaime and Colon Robert Pearson; three sisters, Ethel Barr and Pearl Honn of Waukon, and Grace Hayes of Adel; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa handled the arrangements.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 12, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Garden City Methodist Church, Monona, where Mabel was a member. Dr. Gary Dobbins officiated. Pallbearers were Dr. Eric Pearson, Atty. Mark Walk, Roger Honn, Meryle Honn, Bill Honn, and Robert Melcher. Burial was at the Postville Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.
