Dudley C. Hale, a former Waukon and Decorah businessman, died Monday, March 25, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah. He was 86.
He was born in Allamakee County August 15, 1898, the son of Charles and Olive (Colegrove) Hale. He attended Waukon High School and he graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1922. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Elks Club and American Legion, a charter member of the Waukon Golf and Country Club, and a member of the Waukon board of education. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon.
Hale is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Robbins, whom he married June 14, 1924; three daughters, Mrs. Jane Hewetson of New Orleans, La.; Mrs. Robert (Mary) Mosher of Carroll and Mrs. Ruth Ann Starr of St. Paul, Minn; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Nathan and John and a sister Charlotte.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 28, at 1:30 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Rev. David Ash conducted the 1:30 services. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jamie McGovern, Steven McGovern, David Hewetson, John Mosher, Rob Mosher and John McGovern.
