Cyril A. Manning, 67. passed away Monday, April 3, 1989, at his home in Lansing.
He was born February 25, 1922, in Wexford, Iowa to John W. and Ellen (Donahue) Manning. On April 18, 1944 he married Viola Augedahl.
Cyril lived in the Lansing area nearly his entire life and was self employed in the trucking business for many years. He retired in 1974 due to declining health from Schneden Ford where he had been a salesman.
Surviving Cyril are his wife Viola, five daughters and four sons-in-laws, Judy (Eugene) Mueller of West Point, Nebraska, Ginny (Michael) Stuckey of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Sandra Manning of Davenport, Debbie (James) Curran of Grafton, Wisconsin, Teri (Michael) Collins of Harpers Ferry; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Ronald of Davenport, Donald (Rosie) of Lansing, and John Manning of Racine, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ann Seeley of Lansing, Ella (Cletus) Sweeney of Hudson, Iowa, Margaret (LaVern) Hintgen of Dubuque; three brothers, William (Viola) of Waterloo, John "Dick" and Jerry (Shirley) Manning, all of Lansing. Cyril is further survived by by numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends including Michael Garrity and Rick Sundin.
Cyril was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Ellen, one son Thomas; a son-in-law, William (Billy) Wolf; one grandchild, one great-grandchild and one brother-in-law, James Seeley.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 6, at Immaculate Conception Church, Lansing. The Rev. Herbert Tegeler officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Francis Wagner, Paul Gavin, Keith Garin, Jim Mooney, Tom Troendle and Bob Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Koch, Barney Zeimet, Clete McKee, Walt Keenan, Bob Sandry, Vince Mullarkey, Cyril Murphy and Mark Wagner.
