Contributor is not a relative.Dwayne Merle Suckow, 80, of Oelwein, formerly of Fairbank, died Saturday, October 16, 2010, at St.Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from diabetes and a heart condition. He was born July 29, 1930, in Waukon, son of Richard Peter Robert and Mabel(Mohs)Suckow. He married Beverly Jean Schierholz on September 17, 1954 and they later divorced. He married Judy Krueger on September 9, 1989 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.
Mr. Suckow and his wife, Judy, had owned and operated D&J's Restaurant, Fairbank, for 20 years before he retired. Prior to that he owned and operated Heritage House, Tripoli, Mozy Inn in North Washington and 312 Club, McIntire. He was a veteran of the U.S.Air Force.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Peggi Suckow (special friend Steve Welter) of Fairbank;a son, Dennis of Hudson; a stepdaughter,
Susan (Travis)Larson of Jesup;two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren;and a brother, Delbert (Dorla) of Postville.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Mohs and Willis Suckow;and three sisters, Velma Miner, Verda Mae Schnuelle, and LaVonda Thornton.
Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday October 20,2010 at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank with burial in Fairbank Cemetery.
