John C. "Jack" Schwartzhoff, 82, of Lansing, died Wednesday, April 19, 1995 at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI.
He was born March 23, 1913 in Dorchester, IA to Herman and Mary (Danaher) Schwartzhoff. He married Dorothy Ferring June 2, 1943 in Lansing.
They resided in Decorah until moving to Lansing in 1956. John was a retired farmer. He was also an active member on the boards of the Dept. of Soil Conservation, Calhoun Creamery and Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; two sons, Neil of Wheaton, IL, and Stan (Dianna) of Lansing; a daughter Cynthia (Pat) Tierney of LaCrosse; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hammell Schwartzhoff; eight grandsons and three granddaughters; two sisters, Helen Mooney of Harpers Ferry and Ann (Jack) Helming of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Harold (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, Greg (Charlette) of Milwaukee, WI and Clete of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Robert; his parents; four sisters, Margaret, Winnifred, Lucille Severson, and Cecelia Baxter; three brothers, George, Aloysius and Mark.
Funeral services were held Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lansing. Fr. Herbert Tegeler officiated. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers and gift bearers were grandchildren, Michele, Craig, and Brent Schwartzhoff, John and Lynn Schwartzhoff, Mike, Mark and Greg Tierney, and Adam, Keith and Amy Schwartzhoff.
Burke Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
