Leo Patrick Monroe, 73, of rural Waukon, died April 13, 1995 at his home.
He was born March 5, 1922 in Lycurgus to Glenn B. and Catherine (Ward) Monroe.
Leo married Winifred Gander Sept 11, 1941 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing. They farmed and for many years owned and operated a restaurant in Lansing.
Survivors include Leo's wife, Winifred of Waukon; a son Manley M. "Mike" Monroe of Postville; two daughters, Lynda Valley of Decorah and Patricia Monroe of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters, LaVon Steffenson of Waukon and Esther Hill of Hemet, CA; and a brother, Thomas Monroe of Waterville.
Funeral services were held April 17 at Immaculate Conception Church in Lansing, Fr. H.L. Tegeler officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Glenn A. Monroe, Tom O. Monroe, Lowell Monroe, Glenn B. Monroe, Floyd "Tubby" Monroe and Patrick Leo Monroe.
Honorary pallbearers were Gene Samek, Jack Faegre, Neil Faegre, Glen Connor, Dennis O'Malley, Harvey Halverson, George Ferring and Earl Gander.
