Dale R. Robey, 79, of Waukon died Sunday, July 16, 1995 at Northgate Care Center where he had been a resident since October, 1991.
He was born April 15, 1916 in Paint Creek township, Allamakee County to Ray and Hazel (Henderson) Robey. He attended Waterville Elementary School. When Dale was about 12, the family moved to Waukon and he graduated from Waukon High School in 1933 and attended Waukon Junior College.
July 19, 1940 he married Elnora Jordan at the parsonage of First Presbyterian Church in Waukon.
During World War II, he lived in numerous places while building for the military. He worked as a general contractor, carpenter and builder most of his life.
Dale was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder. He served on the Waukon City Council for 12 years, the Waukon Industrial Board, and was instrumental in funding Robey Memorial Library, Waukon, in 1982.
Surviving are a daughter, Revelyn Lonning of Waukon; a sister, Irma Olson of Waukon; six grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Irene Deeney of Waukon; brother-in-law, Glen McMillan, and step-sister-in-law, Opal Smythe, both of Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife who died July 12, 1981; a daughter Jan; a son Theron, and two sisters, Coila Woodmansee and Joy Powell.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Jerry Donahue, Dan Larson, Tim Paxston, Bob and Dale Lonning, Cory Donahue and Mike Simmons.
Honorary bearers were John Kerndt, Gary Berger, Wilbur Rose, Neil Becker, Loren Rodman, Dave Stilwell and Frank Lonning.
